Also sold as 'Chimera'. Foliage is very similar to Hoya pubicalyx 'Pink Silver' in size, coloring and amount of flecks, however new growth is mostly burgundy.

Flowers with large clusters and is quite fragrant. Flowers may turn black or in various shades of pink and red depending on light conditions.

Hoya pubicalyx 'Royal Hawaiian Purple' is in my opinion the most willing to flower of all varieties. All that has flowered for me has done so within two years from I got them as cuttings, but Hoya pubicalyx 'Royal Hawaiian Purple' has topped that by flowering almost constantly since.

Light, but no sunlight

Likes light but should not be exposed to sunlight. A protected window facing west is good.

Slightly moist

Tolerates some drought but should not be allowed to run completely dry.


Cool growing species. Tolerates longer periods of temperatures just below 10°C. Does not like to be exposed to temperatures above 25°C for any longer period.
