Not an easy species to get going. It's not difficult to root but takes a long time to start growing. In my experience it's sensitive to dry air which makes it attract mites and other pests. In general, Hoya gildingii likes it humid, moist and rather cool than warm.

Hoya gildingii does best on trellises. It is a climber but not a very good one so it needs some help. As it grows upwards it's difficult to successfully grow it in a hanging basket.

The flowers are large, creme colored with some red or pink flush in the corona. They are stunning but not long lasting and don't smell too nice either.
